What would I want to know about the someone who wrote this history if I myself had stumbled upon it? First of all, that I am an older man (I know . . . . this will disappoint those who expect some kind of CV or resume). Second, that I prefer the written rather than the spoken word. Third, I'm an civil (or at times uncivil) engineer, with all the perfections and imperfections that such people have.
Ships and countries "navigate" their way, but people of average girth do not navigate; they just stumble along the road of life using whatever personal compass they have.
